MGOCSM & OCYM

The student and youth fellowship of the Malankara Orthodox Church - united in prayer, formation, and service at our Ballarat parish.

At St. Dionysius, MGOCSM and OCYM meet as one fellowship - the student and youth wings of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, united in a single rhythm of worship, study, and service. Together they form the next generation of our parish: young people learning the faith not only in words, but in prayer, fellowship, and action.

MGOCSM - Worship, Study, and Service

Mar Gregorios Orthodox Christian Student Movement (MGOCSM) is the oldest Christian student movement in India. Founded in 1907 in Madras, it was established to enrich the spiritual lives of students through its motto: Worship, Study, and Service. What began in one city has grown into a global fellowship — the student wing of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, present wherever young Orthodox Christians gather to learn and serve.

OCYM - the youth of the Church

The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) is the youth wing of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It shares the same threefold calling - Worship, Study, and Service - and exists to foster the spiritual growth and active participation of young people in the life of the Church. Where MGOCSM speaks especially to students, OCYM embraces the wider youth of the parish; here, both walk together.

One fellowship at our parish

In many parishes, MGOCSM and OCYM function as a united fellowship - and ours is no exception. Members pray together, study Scripture and Church tradition, and take part in service projects and community life. That shared life strengthens the parish and prepares young people to carry the Orthodox faith into their schools, workplaces, and families.

Under the care of the Church

Our fellowship continues to grow under the leadership of our Metropolitan, H.G. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros, and the guidance of our Vicar. If you are a student or young person and would like to join - or a parent who would like to know more - speak to a member after Qurbana or contact the parish office.
