— The Holy Synod

The Holy Episcopal Synod is constituted by the Catholicos of the East and all the active diocesan Metropolitans of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It is the supreme ecclesiastical authority of the Church, responsible for matters of faith, order, and administration. The Synod meets annually at the Catholicate Aramana, Kottayam.

The Church is divided into 32 dioceses spanning India, Australia, the Gulf, Europe, North America, South-East Asia, and Africa. Each diocese is shepherded by a Metropolitan in apostolic succession — tracing their ordination lineage through the patriarchs of Antioch to the Apostle Peter, and through St Thomas to the Church in India.
